The Centre for Digital Innovation (C4DI) is a technology hub created to spearhead a digital revolution across Hull and Humber and the wider northern region of the UK.
It is the home to a thriving tech and co-working community plus tech businesses who have office space on the upper floors. It sits in a unique position with the river Hull and the Humber Estuary literally on the doorstep, situated at the heart of the Fruit Market, a rapidly growing tech, arts, cultural quarter of the city, which is gearing up for UK City of Culture 2017.
The design of the ground floor was to encourage collaboration with specific zones for the community to use – a chatty work area, a quiet focus zone, a dedicated theatre space for space and the meeting zone.
The reception area offers a tall atrium giving people a real sense of space. From here people can then easily enter the various zones depending on what they want to do. The look and feel was inspired by a New York Urban Loft, giving a contemporary but comfortable feel. It allows members to easily move space throughout the day, from attending a meeting, listening to a speaker at a lunchtime event, or settling back to collaborate on a project with friends and colleagues.
The main space has bi-fold doors which will open in summer onto a wooden deck which will have deckchairs and benches to enjoy the views and fresh air.
