Moving away from their base in the city centre to allow for growth, Yolk wanted to transform this new first floor space into a vibrant hub for working, meeting and entertaining. On a conceptual level, the brief emphasised the companies need for the interior to show their personal approach to the candidate experience. Therefore significantly, the large breakout space is an integral part of the journey through the office, linking the more formal meeting spaces at reception with the main open plan workspace.
Reflecting this inclusive approach, the office was affectionately named ‘The Shell’. Gingham check, printed OSB cladding, yellow glass and reclaimed timber finishes add a little humour to the clean lines used elsewhere and if you know a Black Star from a Rhode Island Red, you’ll recognise the tongue in cheek graphic references that follow you through the space.
